Why did I need a 3D model of my van on the computer when I had the physical thing?

Because this will be my campervan, This will be my quintisencial conversion. From my years of vanlife and van conversions, I will take everything i know and apply.

The 3D scan will allow me to accuratly design the interior with drawings for every cut and drill hole, to make the installtion as conciss as possible. leaveing very little possibliyty for error. It also means all the thinking it down in the warm office, rather than on the driveway while staring at bits of cut wood.

The software I’m using is Reality Capture RC to create the 3D scan model and Inventor for designing the interior design. At this early stage, there has only been preliminary designs to find the best look and feel of the van. I’m aiming for an interior that complements the exterior shape of the van, but does not replicate it. I in vision a design with subtle curves and contours, something of which dramatically increases build time and complexity.
