How can a medium wheelbase van accommodate 4 adults for sleeping and socialising? Otto was born. The Interior design would clearly have to transform to meet this base specification, which i wanted to be seamless and effortless as possible. The biggest challenge and most enjoyable aspect of the build was designing and building the lifting bed. All current moving beds were electrically operated, slow and noisy. I opted for a gas strut assisted design, allowing the bed to “Float” and require minimal energy to lift and lower by hand. There was a locking mechanism also put in place to secure the bed while driving. Everything with hidden within the bed, only the four supporting cables were visible, creating a clean, minimalistic look.

‘Otto’s’ ceiling Installation is where i perfected my insulation design. While maximising thermal ratings, maintaining headroom for occupants, reducing material waste, and reducing instillation time.
