Carburettor Upgrade
Something wasn’t right with the current carburettor, after removing it, it became clear. it was not a carburettor designed for the manifold or engine. Someone had welded an adaptor to join the two none conforming connections together. This of course had raised the carburettor and intern the throttle linkage, which they had modified to work with the substitute carb.
We went for a Weber, which would give increased performance and fuel efficiency. Installation was straightforward, and there was even a pre-existing hole in the dash for the manual choke.
The throttle linkage bracket was also "Unmodified" to its original design. which was a case of angle grinding and welding back into shape. I was hoping to purchase another one, but seemed to be completely unavailable and unheard of, even on the 2nd hand market. My Haynes workshop manual confirmed the bracket was indeed correct, and that it wasn't from another vehicle.
