Timing Belt

To change the timing belt on an OHC Pinto engine, you must first remove the crankshaft pulley. This was my first taste of what was to come, and how much this van would put up a fight over every rusty nut and bolt.

The crankshaft pulley was seized on solid. Progas spray, hammers, pullers and a blowtorch, were not enough and eventually, the pulley snapped off along the spokes. Although this was a pain to have to source and buy a new pulley, what was left allowed me to use the heavier-duty puller, which before couldn't fit around the pulley. the remainder of the pulley put up a fight under the last few millimetres

While I had the belt and rocker covers off the engine, I decided to clean and repaint in some matt black enamel paint. They were looking a bit tired but quickly freshened up with a wire brush.
